Apple Dumpling Dessert

1 cup Bisquick mix
1 cup dried apples
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter (or margarine)
2 1/4 cups water
3 tablespoons brown sugar

Backpacking-Dessert
At home:
Put into 4 small bags: 1. Biscuit mix; 2. Apples; 3. Sugar, salt, and cinnamon, 4 Brown Sugar

On the trail:
Add 2 cups of water to the apples ziploc bag and let them soak 1 hour. Then pour into a pot and bring them to a boil and simmer, covered, while making the dumpling.

To make the dumpling - Add ¼ cup water to the biscuit mix and form into one piece of dough.

Add the sugar-spice mixture and 2 Tbsp butter or margarine to the apples. Simmer for 2 more minutes. With a spoon spread the dumpling dough over them and sprinkle the brown sugar over the top of dumpling. Simmer covered, for 15 to 20 minutes, until the dumpling is done; it will be dry in the middle.
